Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation

Volunteer

People who volunteer their time and skills to protect our heritage for future generation are at the heart of what we do. Being involved is fun, interesting and rewarding, and a great way to meet people in the community who share your interests.

Whether you have only a few hours to spare or would like to dig into something bigger, there are many ways to get involved:

  • be a Foundation Ambassador - enjoy time at the Marsh's Falls Nature Reserve while you inform visitors about the property and the role of the Foundation
  • research and document community histories
  • help find grant opportunities from public and private granting sources, and prepare  applications
  • trail monitoring – walk the trails at Marsh’s Falls Nature Reserve on a regular basis, identify and report any issues, clear minor debris and pick up litter.
  • trail maintenance – maintain Marsh’s Falls trails, e.g. clearing downed trees, brushing trails, building boardwalks, and erecting signs.
  • plan and organize events,
  • lead nature walks and family activities,
  • create our educational materials,
  • support our community outreach,
  • help with our communications,
  • gardening, painting, general repairs,
  • cleanup and property maintenance
