Donate

If we don't save our lake for our grandchildren, who will? Protecting this treasure is our obligation to future generations.

We welcome and appreciate donations of any amount. LBHF is a registered charity.

Annual membership is $25.00 and is extended for any donation of that amount or greater. These amounts will receive a charitable tax receipt, which is mailed in February.

Life Membership is $1,000.00 per individual or couple.

Legacy Donor is an individual or couple who have given $10,000.00 or more.

Protector Donor is an individual or couple who have given $5,000.00 or more.

If desired, you can designate your gift to our Land Conservation Fund, which enables us to be prepared to acquire land that becomes available or the management costs of land we already manage.

Please use the form here to complete and mail your cheque. We are not equipped for credit card or online donations at this time. Thank you.

In Memory Donations

Several families have identified LBHF as a charity for memorial donations when loved ones have died. It is a fitting way to remember someone who loved the lake. We appreciate families who think of our Foundation in these difficult times. The funds raised are valuable to our work, which is focused entirely on the legacy of our lake.

By directing family and friends to our web site, they can make a donation and we respond quickly to notify the family of all donors and send thank you letters to them.

Including LBHF in Your Will

A commonly planned gift is a charitable bequest: a gift that is made through your will. You can choose to leave LBHF a pre-determined sum of money or a percentage of your estate. Planned today, a bequest is not realized by LBHF until you have passed on. We are a registered charity so your estate receives the tax credit to offset taxes owing.

If you are considering a bequest to LBHF, we recommend that you explore the various donation methods to ensure your future gift is tax effective and takes your family's needs into consideration. Please speak to your accountant or legal advisor about drafting or revising your will.

Publicly Traded Shares

Many donors may be interested in turning their appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual fund units into gifts for LBHF. Thanks to the 2006 Federal Budget, individuals will be exempted from capital gains taxes, making this the least expensive way to give. In addition, donors of securities will receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes for the full market value of the shares at the date of the transfer.

Donating Property

Landowners can consider donating land in return for a charitable tax receipt. This process requires a valuation process according to Canadian Revenue Agency standards. We would be pleased to discuss opportunities if you are interested in learning more.
